Digital Flash Cards: iFlash

(Mac and iPod) I recall senior year of high school, my friends creating tubs of flash cards for a number of subjects. From biology or AP English, these very motivated students did a lot flash cards. Ironically, to use these words in common conversation is either praised (Kevin Smith movies) or criticized as education elitist. But can’t tell that to Test Makers. According to my GRE prep course instructor, Test Makers are evil for making you learn words you won’t use, just so you can make it to the 99 percentile.

I didn’t like flash cards. I didn’t like lugging them around, or creating them. It was a pain. I got by without taking advantage of them.

However now, since high school, my vocab greatly increased. Now its time to intensify my inner dictionary. iFlash, a digital flash card program by Loopware, that in conjunction with Apple’s dictionary in every Mac, takes away the pain of organizing, writing, and studying them.

There are a number of features in iFlash that make it a good buy. If you are old-school, you can create them on your Mac and print them. An interesting feature, the ability to record and insert picture allows for word association with images and audio. More convenient, is the option to download pre-made flash card decks, which includes medical terms, GRE, or foreign languages. This is a nice tool for those learning a ton of words for a given subject.

Available as a free trail for 16 days, I suggest forking over $16 for a lifelong tool.
